Search woods around old paths, hiking trails, old wagon roads, overgrown foundations for coins, bottles, relics etc.

Research before you go to find the history of the area and where people congregated on holidays. Search your library or shops for old history books of the area, biographies or old maps. Ask the older people where they used to go, where the swimming holes were, where people used to picnic. Always make sure you have permission to be on the land and to dig holes.
